MEXICO CITY - David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis, Ind.) won the men's synchronized 10-meter bronze medal at the FINA Diving World Series in Mexico City on Friday night.
Competing together for the first time since the 2008 Olympic Games, Boudia and Finchum scored 421.30 points to finish behind China's Zhang Yanquan and Cao Yuan (457.38) and 2008 Olympic silver medalists Patrick Hausding and Sascha Klein of Germany (437.70). Finchum had participated in two previous World Series events with Nick McCrory (Chapel Hill, N.C.) as Boudia had commitments with Purdue University, where he won two NCAA Championships in his freshman season. Finchum and McCrory won a silver in China in March and took fourth in Great Britain last week.
In other World Series action on Friday, Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill./Indianapolis, Ind.) and Ariel Rittenhouse (Santa Cruz, Calif./Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) were fifth in women's synchronized 3-meter. Individually, Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla./Athens, Ga.) was sixth on 3-meter with 418.20 points, and Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Austin, Texas) was eighth on that same event with 404.80 points. Mary Beth Dunnichay (Elwood, Ind.) scored 234.10 points for eighth on women's 10-meter.
Competition concludes Saturday with Colwill and Jevon Tarantino (Boca Raton, Fla./Knoxville, Tenn.) in men's synchronized 3-meter, Bryant and Rittenhouse on individual 3-meter and Boudia and Finchum on individual 10-meter.
