Field set for synchro finals at AT&T National Diving Championships after Tuesday prelims

Tallahassee, Fla. - The AT&T National Diving Championships kicked off Tuesday with preliminaries in all four synchronized diving events at Florida State's Morcom Aquatics Center. The finals for those events will be held August 15 and 16.

The 2008 U.S. Olympic team of Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) and Jevon Tarantino (Boca Raton, Fla.) finished atop the standings with 406.47 points in the men's 3-meter synchro preliminary contest, leading the field of six teams that will advance to Saturday's finals. David Colturi (Sylvania, Ohio) and Sean Moore (Englewood, Colo.) qualified second at 368.13, and Jonathan Wilcox (Bellevue, Wash.) and Florida State's Terry Horner (Orlando, Fla.) took third at 363.51.

Kaylea Arnett (Spring, Texas) and Michelle Cabassol (Montgomery, Texas) earned the top qualifying spot in the Saturday's women's synchronized 10-meter finals. The two-time national champions on that event scored 291.78 in the prelims. Sarah Bacon (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Jessica Parratto (Dover, N.H.) were second at 274.14, and Amy Korthauer (Naperville, Ill.) and Nicole Brehm (Middletown, Ohio) were third with 236.91 points.

Sunday's competition includes women's synchronized 3-meter finals, with Loren Figueroa (Kingwood, Texas) and Kassidy Cook (The Woodlands, Texas) leading Tueday's prelims at 299.10. Diving with a new synchro partner, Olympian Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) paired with Candice Minette (Glendale, Ariz.) for second at 280.80, and Olympian Christina Loukas (Riverwoods, Ill.) teamed with new partner Brittney Feldman (Indianapolis, Ind.) for third with 274.50 points.

Dashiell Enos (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind.) turned in the top score in the men's 10-meter synchro prelims with 349.20 points. Andrew Brown (Centennial, Colo.) and Cole Young (Overland Park, Kan.) were second with 329.52 points, followed by JP Perez (Columbus, Ohio) and James Page (Crown Point, Ind.) at 282.93.

The AT&T National Diving Championships will be held August 11-16. Wednesday's competition includes men's 3-meter quarterfinals and semifinals and women's 1-meter semifinals and finals. Competition begins at 11 a.m.; the finals are set for 6 p.m.
